Christmas Vintage tag

I thought I would share a vintage tag that I made for a swap I was in. I used a size 8 tag that I cut out with the Tim Holtz die. I then embossed it with the Tim Hoptz Christmas embossing folder.The paper I used is from the Tim Holtz Seasons paper collection. I dded distress ink from the Tim Holtz winter collection. I used a strip of green Coordinations paper on the bottom of the tag and embossed it with a border from, you guessed it, the Tim Holtz Christmas embossing border collection. I was in a very Tim Holtz's frame of mind. The poinsetta on the bottom is from Making Memories and the tiny rosebuds are from a swap I was in over at a LSH. I used a Tim Holtz's fragment and made the pendant on the top of the tag. The paper is from the same paper pad as the rest of it. I cut out some of the vintage snow images and popdoted that to the tag. I have a box of those flakes in my Christmas stuff from my Great grandmothers Christmas stuff. I have it all wrapped and protected and NOT opened. I added some ribbon to the top that I believe is from Stampin' Up but dont quote me on that.For the back of the tag I stamped a Tim Holtz image in the winter collection distress ink and added a Merry Christmas stamp to the top. I made a border at the bottom of the tag with Tim Holtz's tissue tape. I loved the images on them so left them as is. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the true Reason For The Season.

As we get ready to celebrate the Christmas season I just wanted to take a minute and reflect on how good this year has been. I got published, taught a class I designed, and had the owner of said design tell me my stuff was fabulous. For the New Year my goals are the same as this year with one new added one.1. To get paid to play.2. To get published. I would be entering every project I can this year and be more focused on getting multiple publishing.3. To be on a design team. I am drooling over this one. I will make it happen this year.4. this is a new one and one I am thrilled to add. I had such a great response from the class I taught that my new added goal this next year is to teach six new classes all designed by me. I know I can do it and cannot wait to get started. The students I had in my class this month all wanted to know what I am teaching next. I will keep you posted as things develop.As for how things went this year. I really struggled to get classes up at running at our local Michaels. The comments and feedback I received were very discouraging but I am not giving up and have renewed purpose for getting them going. There is a market there I just to figure out how to get it going. I am doing a huge Smash Book crop on the 14th to jump start the new year so we will see if that generates interest. I had really great classes I wanted to teach but tomorrow is a new day.My family is all well and plugging along with our lot in life right now. I just keep reminding myself that we wont be here forever and we are truly blessed with where we are. My husband finished out the year with a 3.87 in his classes and got all the classes he needs for next term. The next big hurdles is getting into the nursing program but I know God has that firmly in his hand. Merry Christmas Everyone and may you truly celebrate the reason for the Season.

Graphic 45 Altered Box and Mini Album

I had the opportunity to design and teach a class at my Local Scrapbook Store PaperCandy Crafts. I am so blessed to get to do what I love and get paid to do it. I chose the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium paper line. Its got fabulous vintage graphics and the patterns on the papers are just so luscious. I fell in love with this paper on sight. I use the Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die to make pinecone for the top of the box. The Santa on the cover was just begging to be fussycut and dimensionalized. I love how he turned out. I added stickles to the ornaments on the tree. I popdoted the banner and the naughty and nice list. I curled the ends of the list to follow the lines the paper already had.

I added the chipboard elements to the side front of the box to add detail to it. I tried to keep it simple so it would be easy to store or give as a gift.

I added a peak a boo spot on the top of the mat for this page. I added an envelope with an invisible hinge to hold tags.

For page two I put a border on the bottom to hold vintage postcards that came in the paper line. The images on these postcards are fabulous. For page three I fussy cut the holly wreath paper to get a border for the top of the photo mat. I added an image on the side again using the invisible hinge. I put a chipboard piece on the top side of the photo mat.

On page four I went really simple and used a photo mat with a Martha Stewart border on the bottom with some green ribbon to hold some more of the vintage postcards. On page five I gave the page two photo mats and a chipboard frame from the collection. The top of the frame remains open and ready for a picture. I added a sentiment from the paper over the frame.

On page six I used a photo mat wrapped with photo corners in ribbon. I added a chipboard picture to the left side of the mat with bakers twine from Martha Stewart.

On page seven I added a photo mat a border strip which I tied ribbon to and added a chipboard element hanging off of. For page eight I added a facing photo mat and mirroed the border on the other side. I used a chipboard ticket saying Peace next to the stamped image border.

For page nine I used a border on the bottom with tinsel trim, a Tim Holtz stick pin, and a stamped statement from Close To My Heart. On the top of the page I used one of the chipboard frames and backed it with the tree from the Santa paper that was left over after I fussy cut out the Santa. I left the top of the frame open and ready for a picture but thought it just added a nice touch to have that tree peaking out of that frame. For page ten I used the music sheet paper, again making a pocket to hold tags. I added another border to the top of it using the Martha Stewart punch from previous pages so the album has cohesiveness.I added chipboard tags to the top of the paper tags and tied them off with ribbon that says Merry Christmas. I used a thin strip of ribbon to the center of the paper to follow the line across both pages for visual evenness. I love the way this album turned out.

On page eleven I added a holly print to the bottom and left it open to hold photo mats. I added a pretty border to the top of it and added some chipboard tickets to the bottom which I used red line tape on so you can stick something behind the tickets. For page twelve I added a photo mat made a border in the corner, used ribbon and added a photo mat on top of that. This is a two page layout I designed using Close To My Heart's Elemental Papers. I love the Close To My Heart papers because everything coordinates so well and when I want to pound a layout out all my inks, embellishments, and papers all match without me spending hours figuring it out.The die cut in the upper right hand corner is cut on the Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge available exclusively at Close To My Heart. This cartridge has over 700 images, comes with three coordinating stamp sets, and three sets of Dimensional Element chipboard shapes. Its my favorite cartridge and the last two months I have used this cartridge exclusively.

I used the Martha Stewart Floral Tile Punch Around The Page punch. I loved using this. It was easy to line up, the magnets hold the paper in place, and it added just the decorative element to perfectly compliment the Elemental papers.

I added some Tim Holtz stick pins and used the butterflies from Close To My Heart to add a decorative element with whimsy to this page. The circle chipboard piece is from the Elemental Collection. I inked the butterflies with the Sunset and Lagoon ink.

I made the flower using the 2 inch scallop punch from Close To My Heart. I inked the edges and crinkled them to give them dimension. Again, I added a Tim Holtz stick pin and stamped two hearts with Lagoon ink. The stamp set is from Close To My Heart. The stamped swirl on the journal spot is also from Close To My Heart. Cards for Fundraiser

Hey,
I am back. My daughter is doing well physically. It will be the mental and emotional healing that will take a while. I took some time out to make these cards for a fundraiser my friend is having for a mutual friend. Her husband unexpectedly died a few weeks ago leaving them with no income and six kids. He had no life insurance from what I can gather. All products used are from ColorBox (I have no idea how to add the two dots over the O). I love their products and I love it even more that I get them for free when I fill out surveys they send out. So I took regular A2 cards and added a 4X5 square of the paisley patterned paper as the background and centered a 2 1/2 inch stripe of diagonal stripe over that. I added some sweet leaf ribbon from Close To MY Heart. I stamped a Fiskars cupcake stamp on a piece of white card stock and mounted that on some chocolate card stock from Colorbox. I added that off-center and put a sentiment in the corner.

I have some of the most amazing friends on the planet. My one friend was over and I was telling her about some of the creative stuff I am doing and she said she had some things that were right up my alley. The next day I get this whole box of stamps and a container full of yummy goodness. Tags, dominoes, radiant pearls, and oodles of chotzskies as my Granny would say. I created these two tags with all that yumminess. You cant see it but there is Tim Holtz Clear rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint as the top coat of the tag. I love how it adds the right amount of distress with subtlety. I distress the tag with homemade glimmer mists. I edged the tags with Colorbox chalk inks, which by the way I am totally hooked on. Stamped some images and added fibers and some charms to finish it off on the front. On the back I fashioned a pocket for the tag card I wrote my message on and added a stamped key I cut out and added a clock face too. I hope you find them inspiring and Thanks for looking.

Missing In Action

Sorry ladies. I did not fall off the face of the Earth. I had to pack up all my beloved Scrapbook Stuff and move. So I have missed being creative for the last three weeks and am sitting at the dining table with the little travel bag of goodies I keep close to me out and have spent all day creating. I have no idea if anyone looks at this blog but somewhere down the line I want a record of where I have been and where I am going creatively so here it is. I jones for crafting and creating like a drug addict for its next fix...maybe not that drastic but when I cant find time to be creative it starts to stress me out. Having said all that...I belong to a Scrap Club from Close To My Heart. I love my consultant and I love the products I purchase from her. She designs the greatest pages and I cannot wait to go and recreate her Magic. I also love her laugh and when I was gone missed it tremendously. There are just those people in your lives you crave to be around because they inherently lift you up without effort. I made the six pages she designed then went on to use up the extra's and create a page of my own. Along with the pages are instructions for cards if you are not a scrapbooker. I used the cuts they gave and loosely followed the design. I have this problem with wanting to copy but always put my own twist on things. I hope you like the cards I made. The chipboard pieces and all materials used are Close To My Heart. Did I mention I love their stuff!!! Companion Page

I made a companion page to the previous layout. I used a chipboard frame that I covered and added the photo behind it. I used a EK Success punch for the border on the Lime Green paper. I added a ribbon slide with pink ribbon over the green paper. I used a safety pin and added fibers and charms to the ribbon slide. Over the frame I used a glittered flower and a dew drop in the center of the flower. I added two ribbon flowers to each side of the glittered flower. I used a Bling photo corner on the pink paper and some acrylic butterflies and a dew drop on the frame. The paper is from Colorbox (pronounced colorbook). I hope you enjoy this page as much as me.

I made this layout for a challenge over at Life is scraptastic. Trina made a sketch and asked us to follow it. I dont usually put these colors together but I actually love how this turned out. I am going to finish my birthday pictures in this colorway. I will post pictures when I am done.

I added a peekaboo window with a frame underneath and a picture in it.

I glimmermisted the flowers with some homemade mist. I used the Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch to make the butterfly. I grouped them together to finish off the page. I think it looks fabulous.

ATC cards

Here are a few of the projects I have been working on. I have been sick for a while off and on and its really cutting into my crafting time. I handmade the sequin flowers on the top. The punch is a Martha Stewart Butterfly. I stamped the sentiment that says Celebrate the Day. I used a Seal for the gold flower on the bottom.
For the second one I glimmer misted the card in Vintage Pink. I embossed the Eifle tower stamp in copper embossing powder. I inked the edges in walnut stain distress ink. For the adage ticket I distressed the whole thing in worn lipstick. I added popdots to the back of the tag and added a Tim Holtz memo pin to the backside of the ticket before I put the popdots down. I stamped the image and inked the edges in worn lipstick and added it to the memo pin. I finished the second ATC off with a vintage cream rose in the bottom corner. Thanks for looking.

Hoot Hoot

I just got the Give A Hoot cartridge for Mothers Day and made this card with it. You make this card by taking a 6X12 piece of cardstock and score it in half. I then took the front piece and again score it at three inches. I added a 1 1/2 inch piece of cardstock to the front along with some Queen and Co felt border. I popdotted the OWL on the front being careful to adhere it to the bottom three inches below the fold. Once you pull up the fold I added three Queen and Co rinestones to hold the card in place, finishing it off with an Autumn Leaves felt flower in the corner. I used Crate paper for the front of the owl and Bo Bunny chocolate dot for the wings and body. I added broken china stickles in the eyes to give the owl some character.I added a white journalling box on the inside and finished off the card with a message.

Altered Art Board

I made this art board using a vintage photo from TammyTutterow.com. Visit her sight and see all the gorgeous stuff she comes up with. The flowers and ruffle at the bottom are made from Lutradur, a product put out by C+T Publishing. I love the versatility of this product. I used watercolors to paint the Lutradur and handmade the flowers and vine as well. You will love the versatility of this product once you give it a try. I Mod Podged the picture to the Art Canvas and used Smooch over the Mod Podge to give it the shimmer snow affect you see.

Ok so I seem to be on a card making binge. I made this card this morning. I got a Big Kick recently so I could emboss things and use some bigger dies that my Cricut does not do. I used a background stamp and made it a focal point in the background of this card instead of an all over background. I embossed it in green and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz's distress inks. I added fibers. I stamed, embossed, and chalked the bee's nsets and the birdhouse. When I get to the mail today this card and a package of goodies is on its way to Singapore. My friends youtube name is sillyfroghoneybee and she loves birdhouses so I think this card will be perfect for her.

Mini Album

This is a mini album I made using a small felt purse I had been given full of gifties at a scrapbooking weekend I attended. It was too cute to toss but too small to do a whole lot with. I unstitched it and using coasters for the inside made this album.

I used miniature scrabble tiles over folded paper to make the title. The butterfly is made using Lutradur and I stamped it with StazOn ink and colored it in with Perfect Pearls. I distressed the acrylic piece with alcohol inks and patterned paper.

I use Tim Holtz film strip ribbon on this page with images I cut out from an old dictionary. I adhered them with CTMH Liquid Glass.

I put a journalling spot inside the frame which I inked and added dimentional foam to the back of to hold the spot which a picture can be added to and the journalling becomes hidden. I made the lollipop flower out of handmade paper and added stickles around the edges.

I left these pages kind of simple because I loved the texture from the handmade paper and really wanted to showcase that. I folded the ribbon and adhered it behind the paper as a decorative touch and finshed the pages with brads and small flowers with bling in the centers.

I added a trim piece with a decorative edge from my Fiskars punch and distressed it with ink. I added two journalling spot with room on the back sides for two more pictures. There are two pull out tags for more pictures as well as two paper clips with flowers on them.

Fun Find

Here is what I started with. It is a material called Lutrador. My friend and fellow crafter Lisa Fulmer sent it to me to play with. You can find her at: http://lisalizalou.com
She has links for finding this amazing material you can do so much with.

I used Mod Podge to coat the Lutrador to use it for my project. It gives the Lutrador a shiny surface to work on while making it really pliable to the touch.

These are some of the supplies I used. The stamp Is from Close To My Heart. The set is called D1341 Butterfly Wings.

I used the Staz On ink to stamp the image onto the Lutrador.

I used Perfect Pearls to color in the image. I used water to set the binder in the pearls to keep it adhered to the Lutrador.

I cut the butterfly out.

I took the burnishing tool out of my Cricut tool kit and rub the back of the butterfly to give it some dimention. It made the wings curl a little bit so they sit up off of the card.

Fiskateers Online Crop

Tomorrow Fiskateers is having an online crop and I am hosting an hour of it. I am trying some new things and am going to share them here for the girls to look at during the crop. I am trying to look at non-scrapbook things through a scrapbookers eye and here is what I came up with. I took the packaging from a Toffifay box. As soon as I looked at it I saw flowers. Here is what I did. I cut the centers out of the packaging. You can see in the picture that there are already cut lines for me to use. I then, took the flowers and distessed them using Tim Holtz alcohol inks. They worked perfect on the slick surface of these cutouts. I will post a second post later in the day tomorrow so you can see the page I make with them.

Christmas Paper Bag Book

So I have two full hours a day Monday through Friday where I drive my daughter and a friend to swim team practice to another town 20 minutes away. The economy being what it is I cannot drop them off come home and then go back to get them. So I take projects with me and fill up that two hours with my MP3 player and some alone time with my scrapbooking projects. The pool has tables in the foyer where I can spred out my stuff and jam to the music and work uninterrupted for two whole hours. Since I live in a house with 9 other people uninteruption is unheard of. Here is what I did yesterday with my time. I love the simplicity of the paper bag books and have been asked to do some for some of the kids on the swim team.

I love how simple this bow is to make and how you can totally personalise it to the project you are creating. I liked it so much a made a bigger version to go on my mailbox. Christmas Brag Book

Over at Rubies Studio Maghan made a Christmas brag book and I wanted to copy it and show you my finished project. While she used squares for her cover I had all these coasters from Olive Garden that my niece kyped for me. We were there having lunch one day and I looked at the coasters and said I wish I had more of them because they would make a great mini album. Right behind me was this huge stack of coasters and we left with them. I dont advocate kyping the coasters while your in a restaurant so ask, more than likely if you have been nice to your waiter they will give you some. Anyways, last night while watching Megan make this really terrific accordian fold book it came to me that this would be a perfect time to pull out those coaster and use them. Meghan made her accordian paper a bit bigger than mine, I needed to make mine small enough to fit inside the circle. Mine is made at 2 1/2 inches while hers was 3. Ok so I got my new gypsy and I LOVE it, love it love it love it love it love it, and did I mention I love it. I used it a lot this weekend and am so glad I bought it. I do however not love that it did not come with an instruction manual. It has been a little bit of a challenge to play with it when you dont know what you are doing.

I follow this blog called Christmas WIth The Cricut and the other day they did a card I wanted to copy. I only used what I already had on hand. I made my joy at 2 1/2 inches, whereas they made theirs smaller. Here is the finished project.

Things I think I cannot live without right now:

1.An ipod..as much as I love my MP3 player it just does not do all the things I want it to.

2. The Cricut expression and the Gypsy to go with it.

3. A vacation for the five of us...ie a cruise would be ideal so Chuck will stop talking about it.

4. All of my Bend friends to move here for the next four years until we can move back over there.

5. My church to transport itself here again until we can move back to Bend.

While all of these things are wants and I can live without them I am thinking that why should I have to live without them.

Must See movies

Ok so my sister in law and I went and saw the Proposal tonight. A must see movie. We laughed so hard we almost wet our pants. Whoever came up with this one was a genious and as for Sandra Bullock...wow unless she used a body double congrats on that figure at 40. I wish we all could look that fabulous at 40. It would make a great date night movie but forget that and go see it with your friends. You must make time for the things you enjoy or there will come a time and you will wake up and go where did my life go and then you''l come to the realization that it came while you were waiting. Waiting for all of the other things to get done all of the to do lists and the chores and the biils and the dishes and all of the other things. Me well I have decided to have the things I enjoy especially since my Mom always said I would be a cheap date. I love the old movie theatre that gets the movies after the big theatres have stopped showing them. I am totally satisfied with a Happy Meal and I get a toy in the bargain. Life just does not get better than that. I want walks on the beach with my man cause they are free and we both enjoy them. Three dollars for a day pass at the local lake and we are all set for a great day. Wait I'm not waiting anymore.

things I want to accomplish in this lifetime

Things I would like to accomplish in this lifetime include, going back to Scotland and taking pictures of all the things I missed the first time around. I would like to lead someone to Christ and guide them on thier journey to maturity in Christ. I wold love to see all my favorite bands in Concert and then get to talk to them and ask them what matters most to them to make their music so great. I want to go on at least one mission trip a year for the rest of my life. Its the only way to see how much God truly works in your life, is when you are watching it poured out into the lives of others. I would love to fund said missions trip without having to ask other people to help pay for it.I want to go to Ireland, its my ultimate dream vacation. You can have hawaii but I want Ireland. I want to see all my children saved and actively involved in ministry of some kind. I want to grow old with my husband.
